lifeline and existence and the Defendant is under a statutory obligation to ensure that the Plaintiffs rights are recognized and preserved. That Members of the Community are going through harrowing experiences in the hands of the hoodlums who still reign supreme till date in the Community and the Defendant’s agents have done nothing to stop the situation. As a result of these occurrences, the Plaintiffs sought the following reliefs from the Court: A. A DECLARATION that the Plaintiffs’ Community is entitled to the protection of the fundamental freedoms enshrined and guaranteed under The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, The African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights, the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. B. A DECLARATION that the Defendant is bound to observe and respect the rights enshrined and guaranteed under the Articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, the International on Civil and Political Rights, and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights on all issues whether executive, legislative and judicial relating with, and/or pertaining to the Plaintiff’s Community and its Members. 6
