The implementation of Articles 33 to 36 of this Protocol shall be in
accordance with directives and regulations issued by the Council.
Article 37
Co-ordination of Trade Relations

The Partner States shall coordinate their trade relations to promote
international trade and trade relations between the Community and
third parties.
For the purposes of paragraph 1, the Partner States shall adopt
common principles in particular in relation to:
(a) tariff rates;
(b) conclusion of tariff and trade agreements;
(c) the achievements of uniformity of measures of liberalisation;
(d) export promotion strategies ; and
(e) trade remedies.
The Council shall establish a mechanism for the co‐ordination of
trade relations with third parties and shall :

adopt common negotiating positions in the development of
mutually beneficial trade agreements with third parties; and
promote participation and joint
international trade negotiations.

The Partner States shall provide information to the Council on trade
relations with third parties, to facilitate the effective
implementation of paragraph 3.
For purposes of trade arrangements between individual Partner
States and third parties, the provisions of Article 37 of the Protocol
on the Establishment of the East African Community Customs Union
shall apply.
