Court shall decide on the matter in the absence of the Judge after having heard
him/her, if he/she so wishes.
CHAPTER II – THE BUREAU
Rule 10
Composition of the Bureau
1. The Bureau of the Court shall be composed of the President and the Vice
President.
2. In the composition of the Bureau, the principles of gender parity, representation of
the principal legal traditions and main regions of the continent and a rotation
system, shall, as far as possible, be observed.
Rule 11
Nomination for Election
1. Prior to the expiration of the term of office of the Bureau, the Registrar shall:
(a) at least forty-five (45) days before the Session at which the election of
the next Bureau will be held, notify all Judges of the end of term of the
President and Vice President, as applicable.
(b) by that notice, request Judges wishing to nominate Members for election
or re-election for the position of President or Vice President to notify the
Registrar in writing of their nominees, at least fifteen (15) days from the date
of notification.
2. The Registrar shall inform the nominees and shall invite them to send to the
Registrar their written acceptance or otherwise of the nomination, at least
seven (7) days from the date of being notified of the nomination. The
acceptance of nomination for the position of President shall be accompanied
by an undertaking to take up residence at the seat of the Court.
3. The Registrar shall circulate the list of nominees for the position of President
and Vice President at least fifteen (15) days before the Session at which the
election is scheduled to be held.
