iv. The right to a fair trial protected, by Article 7 of the Charter and Article
14 of the ICCPR, which includes:
a. The right to take legal action;
b. The right to benefit from the presumption of innocence;
c. The right to defence;
d. The right to be tried within a reasonable time;
e. The right to respect for the principle of the legality of offences.

The right to terminate marriage in accordance with Article 12 of the
UDHR and Article 1(e)(i) of the Protocol to the African Charter on Human
and Peoples’ Rights on the Rights of Women in Africa (hereinafter
referred to as “the Maputo Protocol”).7
III.
SUMMARY OF PROCEDURE BEFORE THE COURT
15. The Application together with a request for anonymity was received at the
Registry of the Court on 9 October 2019. On 17 December 2019, the
Applicant was informed that the Application was registered on 17 December
2019 and that her request for anonymity was granted.
16. On 17 December 2019, the Application was served on the Respondent
State for its Response within 60 days.
17. The Parties filed their other pleadings within the time-limits set by the Court.
18. Pleadings were closed on 6 January 2021 and the Parties were duly
informed.
