Principles and Guidelines on Human and Peoples’
Rights while Countering Terrorism in Africa
| 07
The African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights will continue the dialogue at the international, continental, sub-regional, and national levels with all the stakeholders and will share ideas on opportunities to
promote strategies that respect and ensure human rights while combating terrorism and violent extremism.
This document, as confirmed by readers and all those who work with the Commission, is a well-informed
contribution to the work package created to anchor the African Charter of Human and Peoples’ Rights in
all African states. It is therefore yours and I wish you good use of it in what needs to be done: so that life
and human dignity are forever protected on our beloved continent.
Madam Reine Alapini-Gansou
Special Rapporteur on Human Rights Defenders in Africa
Former President of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights
