They allege that the victims were charged with crimes in relation to the Taba bombings and were tried by the Supreme State Security Emergency Court in a trial characterized by procedural and substantive anomalies. They further allege that the court‟s decision was based substantially on the „confessions‟ obtained through torture and prolonged ill-treatment. 9. They state that on 30 November 2006, the victims were sentenced to death by hanging. The Complainants state that the First Victim, Mohamed Gayez Sabbah, was arrested on 22 October 2004 pursuant to an Administrative Order issued under Law 162/1958 of the State of Emergency (the Emergency Law).1 The Complainants allege that the first victim was held incommunicado detention by SSI agents until March 2005. They state that SSI agents blindfolded and bound the first victim, and occasionally hung him from the ceiling by his arms and legs. 10. The Complainants state that the First Victim was held in these conditions for 96 days, being untied only during his interrogation by the State Security Prosecutor. 11. They further allege that SSI agents applied electrical shocks to several parts of his body.
